I got another baby quilt done. This one is for my friend’s baby boy. Amazingly he is only 5 months old. I got it done with a year to spare. 🙂I was trying to put all the blocks together when Buster decided I needed some help…or a nap. And the best place for a nap is in the most inconvenient place.
Griz was watching to make sure it all went together as planned. Her fashionable collar is complements of having surgery last week. (She is no longer able bear children, thank goodness. )
I got the monster fabric from a shop in Napa a year and a half ago. It was too cute to pass up. The rest of the fabric is from my stash…Good job Emily. I didn’t have to buy any new fabric for this one.
Close up on the blocks. I bought the pattern at Runs with Scissors and adapted it to work with the fabrics I already had. My quilt looks nothing like the one on the pattern. With the quilting, I used the new brand of thread that I found, King Tut Thread. It works beautifully with no breakage. I am in love with it and want all the colors.
Because I can’t just sew a strip down the side when the backing is just a little too small…I have to get all creative and spend more than an hour on the back of a quilt for a baby… WHY do I do this to myself?
Cut and sew in one direction, then do it in the other. Back and forth. Back and forth, until it is just big enough for the top.
It is labeled…
And ready to go. All with in a week of cutting out the fabric. But don’t tell anyone. They might expect me to finish all quilts in that amount of time.
You do what you do because you are you, I like you like that!:)
