In thinking about my beginnings, my thoughts go back to my first customers. Or one of my first. We started working together in March of 2011. She had a quilter back east where her sister lived that she would send her quilt tops to and was willing to try someone local. I can’t remember how she found me, maybe craigslist or something like that. But she has been one of my most regular customers.
I thought it might be fun to highlight all of her quilts from the beginning.
Around the world
Old hankies made into Ladies and various activities
All fabrics are flowers from Alaska
Kimonos made from Kimonos
t-shirt quilt with ties as the sashing
And it’s twin
Lace hankies from China (I think)
Bears on a picnic
Dallas Cowboys Fan Quilt
Pheasants and hunting quilt
Streets of San Francisco (customer quilted the streets, I did the ocean waves and mountain peaks on the border)
McKenna Ryan quilt – just stick in the ditch between the blocks
Japanese coin quilt
Homestead embroidery blocks
Whales in the Ocean – This one is going to be entered into the CA State Fair this year
Farmer Bob Quilt
Pink Bargello quilt
I think I may be missing one or two…but this is quite a quilt collection. My customer finds incomplete quilts or blocks at estate sales, antique stores or wherever, completes the top and hands them over to me for the quilting. Some of these she made completely, others are treasure hunts. I always look forward to her emails saying she has a couple more for me.
